After more than 70 years of achievements, Helping Hand has a new and bold vision for the future, that is, to create a vibrant and connected wellbeing precinct in the heart of North Adelaide, elevating the lifestyle experience for seniors’ accommodation, health and wellness, and care portfolios across the community – truly, a landmark project.

“Westering” – Opened 9 May 1954

A place to truly belong.

In 1953, Reverend Arthur Strange set out to raise enough money to purchase a building in North Adelaide, a place that became home for 18 women in the care of Helping Hand. This building was named Westering.

He took a chance, backed his vision, and created something meaningful. We continue to honour that legacy today, building on the generosity and commitment of those who came before us.

Our new masterplan for Westering North Adelaide starts with a major upgrade of Rotary House premium Care Suites, a multi-million-dollar refurbishment that sets new standards for comfort and care. Looking ahead, we’re exploring a range of independent retirement living options, additional residential care, and thoughtfully designed spaces to support a vibrant, connected community.

Rotary House Premium Care Suites.

Rotary House is at the heart of Helping Hand North Adelaide.

Refurbished to high standards in a unique location, these premium Care Suites offer the best in tailored support for later living. Friendly, trained staff provide care with a personal touch and a strong reputation for genuine care.

Presenting a homely feel, each private light-filled and furnished suite offers your own spacious lounge, boutique kitchenette and generous bedroom with private ensuite. Every detail has been meticulously redefined to offer a truly new, revitalised and reimagined experience in residential aged care.

Level Two has been completed and features 21 premium Care Suites along with a communal theatrette, games room, reading room, updated dining space and informal eatery.

Level Three is currently under refurbishment and is expected to be completed in late 2026. This level includes 13 Care Suites, a large alfresco area, restaurant dining, two music rooms and a family gathering space.

Planning for the future.

Work on the full Westering North Adelaide masterplan is well underway.
